Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun Kung Fu, one of the best fighting systems. According to the legend, Ving Tsun kung fu was developed by a nun in the 17th century to efficiently combat representatives of other martial art branches.
Generations later Grand Master Yip Man was the one who breaking the traditions started to teach this system in public in Hong Kong.
Wong Shun Leung was his student, who became famous with his challenging bare-handed fights and gave good reputation to Ving Tsun.
Wong Shun ranks among not only the best fighters, but also the best teachers. Beside this he made great contribution to the development and spreading of Ving Tsun.
Ving Tsun has been developed with one thought in mind, namely surviving a fight. The philosophy emphasizes consistency, balance and simultaneousness of action to economically, effectively, and dynamically end a fight as quick as possible. There is one big difference between Ving Tsun kung fu and other fighting systems, namely that here bigger emphasis is put on teaching a complete concept to the students, which may be applied any time and in any situations instead of practising techniques and situations. Fight is constantly changing, one cannot prepare for it by practising some movement sequences. The practitioner must be ready to react appropriately in each situation.
Ving Tsun does not include any flashy or acrobatic components, such as we see in well-known films, which may be spectacular but also very unrealistic.
Ving Tsun is scientific in every facet through its fully logical theory, directness, simplicity and human anatomy knowledge. It does not build on physical power, but on precisely performed techniques helping to control the opponent easily. Certainly for correct performance of the techniques good balance, quickness, timing and a sense for distance is required.
Ving Tsun is a complex fighting system, which uses the whole body as a weapon, the hands, elbows and shoulders for punching, blocking and grip, the legs for kicking and disturbing balance.
Certainly after a while the performing of Ving Tsun also forms a stronger physical and mental capacity, as well as ability to concentrate and self-control within the practitioner.
